Pastor Christopher Bushre was born in Wiesbaden, Germany, to a military father (Air Force) and a mom who was a lifelong Registered Nurse, now retired. He also lived in Denver, CO, and St. Louis, MO, growing up, but considers the Detroit, MI, area his hometown.
Pastor Bushre attended college at Concordia College (now University), Ann Arbor, Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree and a double major in Biology and Religious Studies in 1998. He also met his wife, Julie, while attending there. He then went to seminary at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 2003. He served as Pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lyons, Nebraska, for five years, until called to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Geneseo, Illinois, where he served for ten years, before being called to Christ the Life.
Pastor Bushre and Julie have been married for 18 years and have three children: a son, Aidan, 15, daughter, Allison, 13, and son, Declan, 8.
In his spare time, Pastor Bushre plays the drums and a bit of guitar. He enjoys reading, watching football, and is an avid griller (charcoal only! Never gas! J).
Mrs. Debi Oblamski is the Church/Administrative Secretary at Christ the Life.
Debi has been a member of the church since its beginning in 1991. The congregation began worship services at Meadowbrook School and rented the gymnasium. In 1993 she started working part-time in a rented office on the corner of Grandview Blvd. & Silvernail Rd., where her main job was the ‘cutting & pasting’ and assembling of the weekly service folder and newsletter.
Christ the Life built its current facility in 1996, and Debi became a full-time employee. During those early years she was the secretary for both the church and early childhood program, along with a host of other ‘whatever-falls-on-my-desk’ tasks, and she became known as "Mrs. O” to the students.
Debi and husband Rick have been married for 44 years and have two married children, two grandsons, five grand-fur-babies, and a very spoiled Puggle named Maggie May. Her hobbies are mainly of the crafting nature - scrapbooking, stamping, crocheting, kids crafts, etc. The Oblamski’s have a 5th wheel trailer and enjoy “glamping” (glamour camping) by themselves and with a group of RVers.
Debi’s favorite thing about her position at CTL: "Hearing how God cares for and works in people’s lives."
