Preschool information for 2012-2013

Our preschool program at Christ the Life is a major outreach point from our congregation to the Waukesha community.  We strive to prepare our students for Kindergarten while also teaching them about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Our program strives for quality in everything that we do.  Both of our Preschool teachers have their Wisconsin teacher's licence in Early Childhood education.  Mrs. Katie Stoltenberg graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2006 as an Early Childhood major with a minor in Special Education.  Mr. Scott Boris graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 1996 as an Elementary Education major with a minor in Early Childhood Education.

We have a new playground that gives us a great outside play space.  Pastor Eric Edwards, leads us in chapel every Wednesday.  Pastor Eric is excited about our preschool program and the amount of lives it touches.

We have started enrolling for the 2012-2013 School Year! Turn in your registration form as soon as possible to get in the class you prefer:

  • 3 Yr. Olds: 2 Days/Wk (Tues & Thurs; 8:30-11:30)  AM
  • 3 Yr. Olds: 2 Days/Wk (Tues & Thurs; 12:15-3:15)  PM

  • 4 Yr. Olds: 3 Days/Wk (Mon, Wed & Fri; 12:15-3:15)  PM

Many of our Preschool families utilize our Childcare program in some way.  Parents turn a monthly schedule to reserve time in childcare on the days they need care.  Billing is based on the amount of time scheduled.  Mrs. Stoltenberg, our Childcare Director, can answer your questions about our Childcare program.

What sets us apart from other Early Childhood Programs?

Our program is a mission outreach of our congregation. Every school day, we spend time talking about who Jesus is and what He has done for us. We use Jesus as an example for how to treat others. We share different Bible stories each week and some of our classroom themes are about Bible stories. We teach our students different prayers before snack and our Pastor leads a weekly chapel service on Wednesday mornings for our children.

Our program also prepares children for Kindergarten. This includes:

  • Academics:
    • Letter Recognition
    • Letter Writing
    • Letter Sounds
    • Colors
    • Shapes
    • Patterns
  • Socialization:
    • How to interact in a large group
    • Taking turns
    • Sharing
    • How to problem solve
    • How to meet new friends

We assess each child early in the school year to help us know how to challenge them individually.

Our large classrooms have many windows and two skylights that bring in plenty of natural light. They also are equipped with a reading loft and a playhouse underneath. We have a large activity room outside our classrooms for playing games and using large motor skills. Our new playground structure is a great place to use some of the excess energy that 3 and 4 year olds have. Our church owns 29 acres of land around our school. This allows us to have a nature trail and a wooded area with lots of wildlife to see. During winter, when we have snow, we can go sledding on a hill in our fenced in play area.

Our 2 teachers bring their own strengths to the program. Mrs. Stoltenberg loves books, writing and art. She adds many creative touches to art projects and her students are always creating something new.

Mr. Boris enjoys his role as a positive male role model. He loves science.  Science is a lot like play. We try something and see what happens and then we can try it differently to see if the results change.  We do many experiments during the year. Some examples are:

  • Launching model rockets
  • Dissecting fish
  • Egg Drop (student build boxes to protect eggs from breaking when dropped from ladder)
  • Digging up fossils
  • Mixing concrete
  • Playing with ice

Our school is unique and growing. Please make an appointment so we can show you our facility and how our program can impact your child’s life.
